It was love at first sight last year when we were introduced to East Sumba by good friends, @v.kenny.t and @ctheosa. The first encounter with the island of golden savanna and friendly natives, especially the children felt so special and left a mark in our hearts. The word ‘creativity’ is something unknown and unheard of, therefore @Rumahanakhumba took the initiative to answer the wake-up call, to build ‘rumah kreatif’ that will inspire, equip and help future generation becoming what they dream of. Some of the kids from Prailiu Orphanage in East Sumba. Last year we made a promise to give back just because we have been blessed in so many ways through køkken+ and our community. We thought we’d start with a simple step by investing our time, opening our hearts and sharing our passion with the future generation so they would hopefully be inspired and dare to have dreams — dreams that are even higher and brighter than ours! Through this upcoming collaborative project with fellow creative friends at @rumahanakhumba and photographer @vanessa_van_houten, we wish to open doors of exposure and hope — instill excitement into every single drop of dream from the deepest heart of every child at Prailiu Orphanage and Kamanggi Village in particular. We are thrilled to announce our collaborative dinner with @sundaysuppers as part of their newest global dinner series. We will be hosting our dinner on May, 26th in Bali. Sobremesa is a new series launched by @sundaysuppers in which hosts around the world have their own dinners in their homes/studios/locations. The concept is to celebrate COMMUNITY and FOOD — and a portion of the proceeds from each dinner will go to The Hunger Project, a global program based on an innovative, holistic approach, which empowers women and men living in rural villages to become the agents of their own development and make sustainable progress in overcoming hunger and poverty
